The Best Views of Los Angeles at Griffith Observatory
Griffith Observatory is one of Los Angeles’ greatest cultural attractions, offering spectacular views from the Pacific Ocean to Downtown L.A. from its perch on Mt. Hollywood in Griffith Park.
The observatory and accompanying exhibits were opened to the public on May 14, 19351. Visitors may look through telescopes, explore exhibits, see live shows in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, and enjoy spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign.
Griffith Observatory also offers free telescope viewing to the public every evening they are open with staff members available to guide you and advise on what you are seeing in the night sky.

Griffith Park is open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Road parking and lots are open1. There is paid parking available in and around the Observatory12. There are public restrooms located next to the Observatory parking lot.
Best time visit:
To avoid crowds, the best times to visit Griffith Park and the Griffith Observatory is mornings (or early afternoons for the observatory) during the week. If you want to avoid large crowds, the best time to visit the Observatory is during a weekday morning or early afternoon. However, the views of L.A. and the night skies are truly breathtaking.
